I can’t seem to escape hearing advice on how to be successful at this or that. Whether it’s faith or fitness, everyone has a formula, a plan that will surely get me what I really desire in, of course, 10 or fewer steps. It’s usually good advice, but it’s tiresome. Perhaps this is because the success I most deeply desire is simple, at least in theory. I want to love and to be loved equally in return. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true. If I don’t have love, I don’t have nothing.
