Jaime Woods

Good soul music happens infrequently these days. Perhaps because good soul artists must submit themselves to a level of vulnerability and openness that require a great deal of emotional transparency. It takes strength to sing about your own life–the good and the not so good.

Jaime Woods’ TROY has the trappings of a great soul album. Each track is a gift packaged inside clean arrangements neatly tied together with beautiful vocals and thought-provoking lyrics. My favorite track is Hello Morning.

While this is Woods’ first album, it puts me in the mind of work done by soul veterans Erykah Badu and India.Arie. Of course, this make sense because Woods has worked with a host of wonderful including Lala Hathaway, Moses Sumney and Bilal.

Check out a few songs and remember to BUY the music.
